The Effect of Negative Emotions on Our Health

Your mind and body are linked, which can’t be seen, but only felt. Your body reflects your emotional and psychological states. A positive mental attitude and powerful immune system will be the result of a healthy spiritual, physical and emotional state. It is only when we ignore our bodies that illness is able to take control of our own bodies natural defenses.

Think of the time when your heart was racing with anticipation or fright, or that feeling in your stomach – its a result of the thoughts and emotions transferring to the physical body.

Your thoughts and feelings are linked to specific parts of the body and different illnesses. When you fall sick, the body is communicating that your way of thinking (unconscious) is out of sync with what is beneficial to our being. Your body is asking you to live in harmony, at peace with your self and your surroundings.

I came across this emotional chart which shows the mental thought patterns that form our daily experiences. It is also part of the book, “Heal Your Body” by Louise Hay – where she has listed all the common illnesses and diseases with the possible metaphysical cause.

GMOs linked to gluten disorders plaguing 18 million Americans - report

Genetically modified foods such as soy and corn may be responsible for a number of gluten-related maladies including intestinal disorders now plaguing 18 million Americans, according to a new report released on Tuesday.

The report was released by the Institute for Responsible Technology (IRT), and cites authoritative data from the US Department of Agriculture, US Environmental Protection Agency records, medical journal reviews as well as international research.

“Gluten sensitivity can range in severity from mild discomfort, such as gas and bloating, to celiac disease, a serious autoimmune condition that can, if undiagnosed, result in a 4-fold increase in death,” said Jeffrey M. Smith, executive director of IRT in a statement released on their website.

Smith cited how a “possible environmental trigger may be the introduction of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) to the American food supply, which occurred in the mid-1990s,” describing the nine GM crops currently on the market.

In soy, corn, cotton (oil), canola (oil), sugar from sugar beets, zucchini, yellow squash, Hawaiian papaya, and alfalfa, “Bt-toxin, glyphosate, and other components of GMOs, are linked to five conditions that may either initiate or exacerbate gluten-related disorders,” according to Smith.

Eat Nuts, Live Longer

ImageHungry? Grab a handful of nuts. Not only are they packed with protein, but it turns out they may be the food for longevity.

At least, that’s the conclusion of the largest study to date looking at the relationship between eating nuts and longer lives. Nuts are high in unsaturated fats, protein and vitamins, as well as antioxidants that are thought to be linked to a lower risk of heart disease.

Researchers from Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School looked at nut consumption and deaths from all causes among 76,464 women participating in the Nurse’s Health Study and 42,498 men involved in the Health Professionals Follow-up Study. They asked the participants about their nut consumption, including how many almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamias, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios or walnuts they typically ate.

Those who reported regularly consuming nuts were less likely to die from a variety of diseases, most significantly cancer, heart disease and respiratory diseases. People who ate nuts seven or more times a week, in fact, enjoyed a 20% lower death rate after four years than individuals who did not eat nuts. Nut eaters also tended to be leaner, more physically active, and non smokers.

Why Do Governments Recommend This Toxic Food Today When They Didn’t A Decade Ago?

ImageIf we analyze the food guide and government advice on nutrition over a decade ago and compare those advisements to what is recommended today, there is one big difference--one specific food crept up onto the radar of public health officials as if it had some kind of miraculous nutritional benefit for the public. The problem is, 80 percent of this food is genetically modified, contains toxic phytochemicals and is linked to digestive distress, immune system breakdown, allergies, ADD and ADHD, higher risk of heart disease and cancer, malnutrition, and loss of libido. Yet, governments seem to think that's not a problem. 

You've probably already figured out that the food is soy.

I'll get to how deadly soy is shortly, but first let's backtrack to the year 2000 and analyze the food guides of two countries, namely Canada and The United States.

The waybackmachine is a beautiful tool that can show us exactly what a website looked like in the past. So if we plug in both the USDA and Health Canada websites in the year 2000 at about the same period, we can see exactly how each publicly funded message translated to each respective food guide or pyramid.

On the Health Canada website, there was absolutely no mention of soy at all. Under milk products, the main message was to choose lower-fat milk products more often. Most people had no idea back then how toxic pasteurized milk was, so it was heavily consumed, much more than it is today. There are currently huge debates throughout the internet as to why humans are drinking milk at all.

Bringing Back the Unconscious: The Latest Science on Awakenings

Hundreds of thousands of patients in the U.S. languish in unconsciousness, cut off from the world by severe brain injuries. But the latest research hints that some of them may still retain reserves of conscious awareness and that there may be ways to reach them — with sleeping pills, antiviral medications, or electric stimulation — and help them to reawaken.

George Melendez was all but dead in January of 1998, when he was pulled from the wreckage of a car that had landed in a small pond on a golf course near Houston, TX. Medics revived him but the combined brain trauma of the accident and near drowning left the then 23-year-old college student in what doctors call a minimally conscious state—awake and occasionally aware of his surroundings but incapable of producing any reliable responses—verbal or otherwise. His mother and stepfather cared for him at home, feeding him by tube, handling his bathing and toileting with the help of a part-time aide. The doctors told them not to expect much, but the parents never lost hope.

It’s these patients, such as Melendez, that scientists are hoping to reach. In 2002, a doctor prescribed the common sleep drug zolpidem (Ambien) to ease his thrashing and moaning at night. That’s when something extraordinary occurred: Melendez woke up.

Mother claims flu shot is responsible for death of teenage son

A Utah mother is claiming that a flu shot is responsible for the recent death of her 19-year-old son.

Chandler Webb received the shot on October 15 during a routine physical, after he had decided to go on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The day after the exam, Chandler became extremely ill – suffering from vomiti
 
ng and headaches. A little more than a week later, Chandler slipped into a coma and spent nearly a month on life support at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah.

While at the hospital, Chandler underwent a variety tests, but his doctors couldn’t confirm what had caused his illness.

Chandler was eventually taken off life support and died early Tuesday morning. His mother, Lori Webb, said that his direct cause of death was swelling of the brain – something she believes was the result of an adverse reaction to the influenza vaccination.

"What attacked his brain happened so quickly within 15 hours," Webb said on Fox and Friends. "From one CT scan to the next, there was so much pressure and swelling on the brain that it crushed his brain stem."

Splenda's Dirty Little Secret: It's Terrible for the Environment

 

Every morning, I drink at least three cups of coffee. In the late afternoon, I often have a plain Greek yogurt for a snack. My evening treat of choice is a microwaved mug of almond milk, flavored with vanilla and cinnamon.

Boy, if that wasn't the most thrilling intro I've ever written, I don't know what is. I do have a point in detailing the components of my daily menu, and it's this: I add an unholy amount of sucralose to each of those foods. That's not even counting the foods I enjoy on a regular basis that already have artificial sweetener in them: flavored creamers, sugar-free Jell-o, protein powder, and more.

It's not like I'm unaware of controversy surrounding my beloved yellow Splenda packets. A 1998 report from the Food and Drug Administration stated that sucralose caused minor genetic damage in mouse cells. More recently, Splenda made headlines in June 2013 when the Center for Science in the Public Interest, a nonprofit watchdog group, downgraded its safety rating of sucralose from "safe" to "caution," meaning that the additive "may pose a risk and needs to be better tested."

Some believe the human body may react to too much Splenda the same way it reacts to too much sugar, leading over time to diabetes. People have reported symptoms ranging from headaches to seizures as a result of using Splenda. Additionally, it's theorized that sucralose's turbocharged taste—600 times sweeter than table sugar—can boost appetite and reinforce cravings, ultimately erasing its touted calorie-cutting benefits.

Navigating A Holiday Party Without Sabotaging Your Health

I have to be honest, during the holidays it can be hard for me not to give into nostalgic cravings and indulge on foods I typically try to steer clear of throughout the rest of the year. It’s the holidays for goodness sakes and I want to celebrate like everyone else!

Unfortunately, many holiday parties in the past consistently resulted in post holiday bulge. Every January, I used to find my “skinny jeans” tighter and my waist line generally uncomfortable when I sat down. Do you know the feeling? And let’s not even talk about how I felt mentally – tired all the time and not self-confident at all. I hate those feelings!


After I started learning about what was really in my food, I made a conscious decision not to eat toxic chemicals in processed food regardless the time of year because I knew they were responsible for making me gain weight and making me want to eat more. If there was something I really wanted to eat that I knew was filled with additives, artificial ingredients or other questionable substances, I vowed to myself to make it at home with my own organic ingredients so I could indulge. And oh boy, do I indulge with my own homemade treats without the weight gain!

I have received so many letters from you lately about navigating holiday parties and how to handle them – this letter from Barbara really hit a nerve and inspired this post. Barbara writes:

With the holidays approaching, as a non-GMO organic food eater I (and I’m sure many of your readers) could use some food etiquette advice. Preterm Birth Linked to Chemicals in Personal Products

  
 
Pregnant women exposed to phthalates, a group of hormone-mimicking chemicals found in personal care products and processed foods, may have an increased risk of preterm delivery, a new study suggests.

The study included 130 women in the Boston area who had given birth early, before 37 weeks of pregnancy, and 352 women who delivered at full term between 2006 and 2008. The researchers measured the levels of common phthalates such as DEHP in the women's urine up to three times during their pregnancies.

They found that women who had the highest levels of phthalate metabolites in their urine had a risk of preterm birth that was two to five times higher when compared with women who had the lowest levels.

What's more, when the researchers looked only at the 57 women who had "spontaneous preterm delivery," meaning they didn't have a medical condition that could explain their early delivery, they found the link between exposure to phthalates and risk of preterm delivery was stronger, according to the study published today (Nov. 18) in JAMA Pediatrics.

Stanislaw R. Burzynski, M.D., Ph.D., internationally recognized physician and biochemist-researcher who pioneered the development and use of biologically active peptides in diagnosing, preventing and treating cancer, since 1967.

In 1967, at the young age of 24, S.R. Burzynski graduated from the Medical Academy in Lublin, Poland, with a M.D. degree with distinction, finishing first in his class of 250. During the same year he identified naturally occurring peptides in the human body which he concluded control cancer growth. He found that there is a marked deficiency of these peptides in cancer patients.

The following year, 1968, he earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry as one of the youngest candidates in Poland ever to hold both an M.D. and Ph.D.

From 1970 to 1977, while a researcher and Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, his research was sponsored and partially funded by the National Cancer Institute. At Baylor, he authored and co-authored 16 publications, including 5 concerning his research on peptides and their effect on human cancer. Four of these publications were also co-authored by other doctors associated with M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute, and Baylor College of Medicine.

In May of 1977, Dr. Burzynski received a Certificate of Appreciation from Baylor College of Medicine, commending him for completing five years of dedicated service and acknowledging his contributions made to the "Advancement of Medical Education, Research, and Health Care."

That same year, Dr. Burzynski founded his clinic in Houston where he's since treated over 8,000 patients. Dr. Burzynski is a member in good standing of renowned medical associations, including the American and World Medical Associations, American Association for Cancer Research, Society for Neuroscience, Texas Medical Association, Royal Medical Association (U.K.), Academy of Medical Ethics, Society for Neuro-Oncology, and many others.

Dr. Burzynski is the author and co-author of over 300 scientific publications and presentations. In his career he has received numerous prestigious awards from various medical, educational and governmental institutions. Currently, he holds 242 patents registered in 35 countries, related to 17 proprietary scientific inventions (as of January 2011).

Dr. Burzynski has collaborated with researchers at the National Cancer Institute, the Medical College of Georgia, the Imperial College of Science and Technology of London, the University of Kurume Medical School in Japan, the University of Turin Medical School in Italy, and others.
